My Therapeutic Approach
Life is full of hard things. Therapy can be a place of refuge from it all. A setting to show up wherever you are. A space where you are not alone in your pain.
I practice from a client centered and strength-based approach. You are the expert in your life, and I am here to help guide you in your healing journey. As we uncover your truth, I hope you feel more confident in living the life you genuinely want.
Along with strength-based care and a client centered approach, I also frequently utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, relational therapy, and mindfulness with clients. I enjoy working with a diverse caseload; I currently work with adults, older teens, families, parents, and couples and especially enjoy working with mother/daughter relationships.
About Me
I am a therapist because I trust in this work. I believe strongly in the wounded healer, and I live by the idea that it is my familiarity and understanding of my own pain that has given me the power to help others heal.
The two values that guide me the most in this life are kindness and joy. For me, joy is found in moving my body (hiking, biking, walking, yoga), being in nature, nurturing my relationships with my family, deep belly laughs with friends, and adventuring to new places in our wonderous world both alone and in community. One thing that gives me hope in this life is when I see kindness in humanity: a smile from a stranger, a loving embrace, someone going out of their way to help another.
I frequently encourage my clients to seek out what brings them joy in their lives and to above all else treat themselves (their thoughts and actions) with as much kindness as possible.
