Clinical Approach
My utmost passion lies in empowering individuals to embrace their inner strength and to find their true potential. Through my therapeutic approach, I strive to create a safe and supportive space where clients can embark on a transformative journey toward personal growth and well-being.
I like to focus on interpersonal relationships, such as family, friends, life partners, professionals, and even with one's self.
My therapeutic style is eclectic, incorporating Attachment-Based Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Person-Centered Therapy, Play Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy practices depending on your unique individual/family needs.
My experiences include working with clients from young children to elderly, with various cultural and ethnic backgrounds who live with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, or need support in navigating daily challenges and life transitions.
About Me
Growing up in both Japan and the U.S. provided me with an opportunity to see things from multiple angles. It taught me to be humble yet speak up when needed. Part of my family is very traditional (hence, I was named "Child of Kyo" from the city of Kyoto), while the other side is rather international. I was raised to be curious, attentive, and helpful.
Becoming a therapist has been my passion for many years. However, the desire to pursue further education and my desire to become a therapist grew stronger after I started my volunteer work as a Court Appointed Child Advocate (CASA) with teens. What I've learned from and through the teens is something I cherish to this day. I continue my work as a CASA.
My commitment to my clients includes dedicating one crane per hour I spend for my clients to make Senbazuru (One thousand cranes), which symbolizes peace and healing for someone in pain. I fold one crane with my wish and hope to be part of one's healing journey as I continue my journey for my licensure.
During my downtime, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, hiking with our dogs, gardening, reading, and exploring local food while traveling. I love driving and will hold onto my manual transmission car as long as possible. I try to stay away from any video games, simply because I remember finishing the Legend of Zelda within a week many years ago, but now I devote my time as a therapist. One of my favorite movies is NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind, which brings tears to my eyes every single time.
